Alright ladies! Don't forget your sunscreen!

It’s the middle of summer, the sun is shining, and the heat is blistering! Flow-y skirts, gladiator sandals and one-piece bathing suits are in! Enjoy a freshly squeezed iced lemonade and get your pedicures on!

Trying to keep your body refreshed and safe from UV-A and UV-B rays during a hot day can be tough, but forgetting about your hair is worse.

We tend to take care of our skin, but what about our hair?
The heat can dry out and make your hair brittle, and the sun can turn your beautiful blonde hair into a not so pretty brassy mess. It’s important to take care of your hair. Hats are a good way to stay trendy and keep the sun from drying out your hair. But let’s be realistic, we’re not always going to be wearing a hat, so another way to lock the moisture and color in your hair is a UV-A and UV-B protection spray.
There are many leave in conditioners, hair sprays and gels that have an SPF in them, these usually come with an SPF 12.  Also, shampoos and conditioners with an SPF can help protect the hair from sun damage.

A great do-it-yourself-way is to dilute a tablespoon of SPF 25 or 30 sunblock lotion in a spray bottle of water and spray into damp hair before styling. We’ve got to stay away from alcohol, lemon juice, peroxide or any hair lightening products – especially from the sun, this causes dry brittle hair and does nothing to protect our locks!

So ladies, when going out to enjoy the sun, be aware that, just like our skin, our hair needs to be protected too!

How To Curl Hair Using A Flat Iron

December 24, 2008 by ashwin · Leave a Comment

It is nature’s law that if you have straight hair you want it curled and if you have curly hair you would want it straightened. Curling hair is easy and possible with many tools. One of the easiest ways is to do it with a flat iron.
The video below demonstrates the way to do it in easy steps.

Here's an explanation as to How to curl hair using a flat iron in easy steps:

  1. Before you begin you have to decide what kind of curls you want. The curls can be tight and dense or loose and flowing. Depending on the kind of curls you want divide the hair into segments. The tighter the curls you want the smaller the segment should be.
  2. After dividing the hair into desired segments heat the flat iron, spray a protective spray and comb it. This will form a protective barrier between the hair and the heat. Take care not to hold the iron too near the scalp or heat it too much. Hold your hair or the segment you wish to curl near the end.
  3. Place the iron over the section. Be careful not to singe the hair. Hold the hair taut and the iron away from the scalp.
  4. Wrap your hair around the lower plate. This will ensure the quality of the curl. The tighter you wrap it the tighter will be the curl.
  5. Now close the plates gently with the segment of hair securely clasped in between
  6. Gently glide the iron rotating it upwards, and outward. This will give it the curl and the wave you want
  7. Repeat till all the segments are done. It is really as easy as it looks.

If you have curly hair, you probably want to straighten it once in awhile. That seems to be the way it goes, women want what they don’t have which is why there are so many hair tools that have been invented to help us achieve that.

In the past, it meant that if you wanted straight hair, you would have to subject it to the high heat of a hair iron that would result in a lot of damage, split ends and broken hair. Well, don’t worry – with the new technology of hair irons with tourmaline those days are a thing of the past.

So what is tourmaline and how can it possibly benefit your hair? Well, tourmaline is a naturally occurring element that is an excellent source of negative ions. The abundance of negative ions that tourmaline emits actually work on your hair by penetrating the hair shaft and drying it from the inside in. That means that your hair doesn’t have to be exposed to the heat for nearly as long in order to straighten it. And as an added benefit, tourmaline closes the hair shaft of each hair which locks in the hairs natural moisture making it shiny and healthier than ever before.

Hair straighteners that have tourmaline, not only straighten your hair, they help it look healthier than ever before which means that you do not need to sacrifice healthy hair for the style you crave. By straightening your hair, you can actually make it look better than it ever has. The frizzies and dry damaged hairs will be gone, leaving you with shiny, glossy hair instead.

Don’t worry about damaging your hair with a hair straightener with tourmaline. You can actually use these irons every day on your hair without fear of damaging your hair. Tourmaline makes it possible for you to have the hair styles that you always wanted so stop wishing for what you don’t have and get straightening.
