Skin Care During Monsoons(Rains)
May 16, 2009 by ashwin · Leave a Comment
Taking care of your skin during monsoons is often difficult to manage and one of the most common difficulties that arise during these times would be fungal infections. Special care needs to be taken during these times as given below:
- Acne break-outs are pretty common during this season and you may use medicated face-wash to keep that in check.
- Use oil-free moisturizers as your skin gets hydrated during these times. However, avoid using heavy, oily creams.
- Use Oil Free toners, sunscreens. Try to wash your face as often as possible to keep fresh and hydrated.
- If your skin tends to be excessively oily, use an ex-foliate toner or an astringent. One of the reasons why your skin tends to attract fungus is due to the sweat. Use lotion-based moisturizers and try and scrub at least once or twice a week.
- Avoid excessive water contact with the skin on your palms since it this season also causes peeling of skin.
Use sunscreen at all times, even if you think it isn't that hot. UV rays will still hit your skin and it doesn't necessarily have to be hot. To avoid a sticky feeling off your sunscreen, try to modify it into a lotion-based or a gel-based one.
Your skin requires special care during the rains and the above points are only a starting point for special skin during such times. Can you think of any more ideas to protect your skin? Feel free to comment.
Profile Body Firming Anti-Cellulite Treatment: That Fat Needs Good Riddance
May 2, 2009 by ashwin · Leave a Comment
In a previous post about cellulite called Easy and Effective Tips To get Rid of Cellulite, I had mentioned how cellulite forms and some tips on how to combat it. The extent of damage it can do to your first impressions for whoever might happen to see it. Using the new Profile Body Firming Anti-cellulite treatment, these first impressions can be made better.
You got to fight cellulite, now that it has formed and the profile Anti-cellulite treatment helps firming up the skin, instead of leaving it dangling due to all that fat.
Profile Anti-cellulite treatment cream -- available in a mint scent and an orange variation -- is off the stables of the latest advances in the body-slimming cosmetics. This product helps tone your skin, bring it back into shape and render it all that beauty that must have got rounded off.
The profile cream also has an element of caffeine astringent that helps boost blood circulation, fluid reduction and tightens the skin. Some of the other ingredients are the essential oils that help detoxify and make the skin look younger, fresh and firm.
Your lower back is important and the area behind your thighs is fat-loving. All you need to do is to maintain a healthy diet and not allow it to happen ever. Even if it did happen, using the Cellulite Treatments available at Salonhive should try to surmount your problem.
Vitamin C and Anti-Aging Skin Care
April 30, 2009 by Jennifer · Leave a Comment
As we get older, the collagen in our skin breaks down, creating fine lines around our eyes, mouth, and neck. Sad, but true. What’s a girl to do?
Vitamin C has been known to stimulate the growth of collagen, which will in turn add strength and suppleness to the skin. Not only that, but Vitamin C is also an antioxidant, so it can help fight the effects of free radicals on your skin. (Free radicals are the unstable molecules in the environment that can prematurely age your skin. They are caused by sun exposure and environmental pollutants, and are definitely not good for you.) With these benefits in mind, skin care companies are adding Vitamin C to all kinds of products, including facial moisturizers, serums, and body lotions.
I’m not claiming Vitamin C is the fountain of youth. Aging is a fact of life. We’re not going to get any younger, ladies. But there’s no reason not to try to look the best we can, at any age, and Vitamin C’s proven track record makes it an attractive addition to my skin care routine. In my own efforts to slow my skin’s aging process, I am adding products with Vitamin C to my skin care regimen.

The next time you wear that bikini or go for a swim, you don't have to put up with the embarrassment of suffering from cellulite. The Revitol Cellulite Cream is an astonishingly effective cream having been used and recommended by many experts and users alike. What's more, it has also won Salonhive's Customer Choice polls consistently now.
Cellulite, is the formation of lumps of fat on your thighs making them look wrinkled and un-smooth. Revitol is a topical product made off natural ingredients and is 100% safe. Since the presence of fat in the lumps for women suffering from cellulite obstructs the flow of blood all the way up to the surface of the skin, the usage of the Revitol Cellulite Cream enables your skin to breathe again, make it smoother and pours life into it.
Revitol cream, as most other effective cellulite creams, has caffeine as its ingredient which works miraculously to get rid of cellulite and make your skin look smoother. Consistent applicaiton of the cream is the key though and by applying this cream about 3-4 times a day can resurrect your skin and make you look beautiful as ever.
Tamanu Oil: Natural Healing
February 19, 2009 by Jennifer · Leave a Comment
I have been taking an interest in natural healing solutions lately. I know I’m not alone. Tons of people are paying more attention to what’s in their cosmetics and skin care products these days. And more and more often I am coming across testimonials from people who have benefited from the use of Tamanu oil for skin conditions.
Used by Polynesians for hundreds of years, Tamanu oil is hailed as an amazing topical skin healing agent, and has been to treat skin ailments such as sunburn, cracked skin, acne scars, shingles, eczema, blisters, scrapes and cuts. Its therapeutic properties have long been touted in the South Pacific islands, but widespread use of the oil is relatively recent to European and American markets, where it is now being added to cosmetics and medications as well as being sold in its pure form. Not only do the oil’s anti-inflammatory properties soothe the skin, but it also seems to promote the formation of new tissue (hello, anti-aging!)
The oil comes from the Tamanu tree (Calophyllum tacamahaca), which is native to the South Pacific. The fruit of the tree is cold-pressed to produce the oil. As with any nut product, people with an allergy to any sort of nut should not use Tamanu oil, but as for the rest of us? Seems like a handy thing to have around.
Get Your Skin Ready for Spring
February 18, 2009 by Jennifer · Leave a Comment
You’ve been taking good care of your skin all winter long, and now that fat robins are starting to hop around outside and signs of spring are upon us, it’s time to think about adapting your skin care regimen to reflect the change in the seasons. Spring cleaning is not just for your apartment: Your skin could use a good detox after the harsh winter months, as well.
Start by exfoliating – everything. Your face, knees, elbows… we’ve been hiding out under coats and scarves over the past few months, and it’s time to prepare our skin to be exposed to the world again. Get rid of flaky skin with a good body exfoliator. Apply a scrub in a warm (not hot) shower, give yourself a good rub (but be careful – the grains in some scrubs have jagged edges that can harm your skin) and finish up with a coat of nice body moisturizer or oil once you’re out of the shower. Try one with alpha-hydroxy acids to give your skin an extra glow.
Now for your face. If a spa day is not in your budget, try an at-home facial to detox your pores and rejuvenate your tired skin. Steam your pores open in the shower or over a bowl of warm water (be careful not to make it too hot! Steam can burn!), then follow up with a light facial scrub to gently remove dead skin cells. When you’re good and smooth, apply a face lotion and lip balm with SPF. Now that you’re probably going to be spending more and more time outside, you definitely don’t want to skimp on the sunscreen!
Finish up by treating yourself to a pedicure. You may not be wearing sandals just yet, but it’s not too early to start getting those rough feet and messy cuticles in order. Soak your tootsies in a tub of warm water and bath salts, then dry them thoroughly and apply a foot cream. Clean the residue off of your toenails with a pad soaked with polish remover so they’re oil-free and ready for polish. Two careful coats of color, a layer of top coat and you’re good to go. A girl always feels a little more cheery when she’s got color on her toes! It may not be shorts weather, but at least your skin is prepped and ready for warmer weather to arrive.
